A Memorable Chinese New Year 2018

Happy Chinese New Year everybody! How’s Dog year 2018 treating you so far? 🙂

I don’t think I have blogged about Chinese New Year before and since Vincent and I are still on ‘Sony Handycam fever’, we decided to record down some events this year!

I was so busy with Chinese New Year preparations. Besides, being a new academic year for Jacob, I had to wake up early everyday to prep and send him to school. #WelcomeToMotherhood. So grateful that I decided to start spring-cleaning end of last year. Otherwise, I can only imagine… haha.

Just like every other Chinese New Year, we spent the eve at home for our reunion dinner. Next morning, everyone woke up early for angpow session, did all the wishes, then we had Lou Sang as a family together, followed by lunch. The idea of Chinese New Year is to spend time together right? Plus, the children were so excited about dressing up in their new clothes! Grandparents and grandchildren bonding time; parents and children bonding time. We played UNO (Jacob’s favourite game now), karaoke, games with the kids, etc. – quality family time. The next day, we went back to my parents’ house for a second round of reunion dinner where I met all of my siblings and we spent time together.

Vincent recorded snippets of it and the shots were taken perfectly thanks to the Balanced Optical SteadyShot™ feature (aka BOSS). I love the output, the photos look like it was shot with super steady hands (which Vincent and I do not possess haha) or with a camera stand.

I didn’t manage to snap many photos of them playing together because I had to pay 110% attention when they were playing haha. But you can watch from the video we put together at the end of this post.

We ended the night with this mini home cinema setup ourselves, where we re-lived the fun we had during the day.

Now, it’s your turn to watch the video 🙂

I’m glad Vincent agreed to help capture and relive precious moments from this Chinese New Year. It inspires me to create more videos and record all these memories.

Gong Xi Fa Chai everybody! 🙂 Love, Shaine.
