Stay connected with your children

All parents will come to a phase where they feel disconnected from their children. I mean, children grow up and they have their own set of mind on what they want to do. If you do not keep the communications tight you wouldn’t really know what’s going through their little minds. Even if they are as young as the age of 3! Jacob is 3 years old now and he still surprises me with the things he already know despite his young age.

I started sending Jacob to pre-school last year. Not many classes but rather for him to mix well with other children. At home he sees all adults and being youngest in the family (before Sophie) he tends to act like an adult. I can vivdly remember the first few times we sent him off to school and he had to go into classes alone. The loud cry. The yelling of ‘Mommy! Mommy!’ still rings at the back of my head. And I’m very sure most of the parents out there feel me. So many times I wanted to open the door and say let’s go home but if I let that happen once, Jacob will never learn to be independent.

To comfort him, I allowed him to bring one of his favourite things to school. Be it toy car, Peppa Pig or anything that is allowed to bring. Slowly he started to get used to it and I tell him each time dropping him off to school, Jacob you’re big boy now. Big boy go to school play with friends and not cry. Slowly he accepted he’s a big boy! Haha.

Maxis recently launched MaxisONE Kid campaign, where you get a kid watch and kid sim card. Basically you’re giving your kid a ‘phone’ but instead, it’s a kid watch!

When I first got it, I thought the watch was cute! And installation steps were pretty simple and straightforward.

What I like most about this watch and the app (downloaded on my phone) is that everything is controlled from my phone, including saving contact numbers, location tracking and etc. So I don’t have to worry about strange numbers saved on the watch!

Processed with VSCO with a7 presetEeeee mummy why you call me, he said.

Processed with VSCO with a7 presetThe watch is pretty simple. Total 3 buttons to function; 2 buttons on the right and 1 at the bottom. The 2 buttons on the right helps you navigate through the functions, such as calling contacts, taking photos and etc. The button at the bottom calls for SOS. I can totally picture when he needs milk he will press the button heavily now. Haha

Processed with VSCO with a7 presetQuite impressed with the accuracy of location as well! And this function works both ways, now I can track Jacob’s location at all times. Vincent can access to the app and track too!

Processed with VSCO with a7 presetThe watch works just like a phone! Very very useful if Jacob joins his school for field trips.

Once all set up, Jacob got so addicted to calling his daddy.

This watch can store up to 10 contact numbers. So now we have my number, Daddy, Grandpa, Grandma and Aunties… All the numbers Jacob requested to have in the watch to ‘abuse’ haha. I had to warn all of them that Jacob can call them anytime now haha.

Processed with VSCO with a7 presetMost importantly, kid watch can be very stylish too! Look at how this kid pulls it off. Now he can’t leave house without his watch hahaha.

Processed with VSCO with a7 presetTo those parents who are considering getting a phone for your children, why not a watch that functions the same? This watch might be the perfect solutions for you. It helps parents to keep track and stay in touch with your kids, providing peace of mind parenting. (No Youtube videos disturbance haha)

Most importantly, you can get the watch for RM58 per month! Definitely more affordable than a phone and an extra line. Price of 3 Starbucks to get you peace of mind of your kid’s whereabout, why not? Visit Maxis Website for more information!

Now let me go back to Jacob with his SOS alert… (Milk. hahaha)
